On Saturday, May 16, local Master Gardener, Jan Starks will give a presentation on various ways to harvest and use herbs found at the market or grown at home. She will demonstrate how to make herbal oils and vinegars, herb butter and basil pasta salad. Attendees will be able to sample all of the herbal creations. Starks will also exhibit container gardening for herbs and have several plants available for purchase. This free presentation will take place at 10 a.m. on the riverbank. 

The LSU Ag Center will also be present at the Green Market. Market attendees can make their own “Fruitful Yogurt Parfaits” and receive nutritional information about healthy snacks. 

Market patrons can enjoy live music from the Hoodoo Papa’s from 10 a.m. to noon. The “acoustic gumbo” from the Hoodoo Papa’s is sure to have your tapping your feet.
