Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer, sponsored by the New Life Evangelism Center, will be present at the market this Saturday. Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). At the age of 4, Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation has raised more than $25 million towards fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 80 research projects nationally. LifeShare Blood Center will also be onsite recruiting blood donors for the central Louisiana area. Make sure to visit the "Cooking Light" tent this Saturday, to sample delicious summer treats prepared by Jennifer Wilson, a local certified wellness educator and counselor. Wilson will delight taste buds with her quick and easy chicken legs with brown rice, fresh roasted vegetables and delectable mandarin orange salad. Prepared in less than an hour, this nutritious, well-balanced meal is sure to be a hit this summer with family and friends. Live entertainment on June 13 will be provided by The Lukejazz Trio from 10 a.m. to noon. This three piece band will keep you entertained with their jazzy beats. This Saturday, produce vendors will have blueberries.
